“Core Connectivity”

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Gena Kenny

At the very core of well-executed movement is somatic awareness. Cultivating movement from your core will enrich your sense of flexibility, suppleness, strength, and stability so that with fluid motion your vital life force becomes increasingly tangible.

In this Teacher Training you will cultivate an ongoing, experiential practice into the alive and ever changing territory of your body. You will learn how to have a clear expression from your core to the outer periphery through breath practices and movement practices. The focus will be on the ‘core connection’ in relation to movement patterns, breath patterns and including the mind/emotional links to living outside of your centre. As your body moves, your mind moves.

This workshop is open to all. Some previous study of anatomy is helpful but not mandatory

This course will cover the following:

  • How to establish a base line sensory perception
  • How to extrapolate meaning from sensory information
  • The pelvis/cranium
  • Fluid body support
  • Organ body support
  • Cellular respiration and the keys to integration from the centre.
  • Developing a mental/emotional connection to your core and yourself.
  • Restorative yoga sequences.

December 8th and 9th, 2018

“The Embodied Self”

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Gena Kenny

If you want to learn to teach Restorative Yoga, or wish to deepen your understanding and practice of Restorative Yoga, this is the course for you.

“Through the practice of embodiment, I come home”

This course will help you develop skills in understanding and feeling a deeper sense of embodiment.  You will gain a greater felt sense of your organs, glands and systems as well as a more broad understanding on the interconnectedness of the whole.

Through movement, breath, vibrational sound and meditations you will learn how to be more present with yourself on all levels.  As you learn how to be more present to yourself and felt sensations, you become more present to how your body actually is , rather than be in a foggy relationship with it. Your body loves presence, it thrives on presence.  The power of presence will bring your cells and structures into a new consciousness and energy and it will revive your bodies ability to self heal, self regulate and establishing balance from within.

This course will cover the following:

  • The Fluid body
  • The Organ body
  • The five lobes of the lungs
  • The five diaphragms
  • Kidneys and adrenal glands
  • The digestive system
  • The jaw/pelvis connection
  • Embodied Feet
  • Tensegrity
  • Cellular breathing
  • Achieving Homeostasis

More about Gena:

Gena Kenny has been studying and teaching yoga for spinal care for nearly 10 years. She teaches from a place of self-healing through her own back injury which she incurred whilst working as a firefighter in the Melbourne Fire Brigade. Having been through chronic pain and the frustration of the ups and downs of the pain and cycles of repeated patterns, she applied these methods to her own body and now lives without pain.

Gena has studied intensively with Donna Farhi who is one of the world’s leaders in yoga for spinal care and healing. She integrates Restorative yoga, the Feldenkrais method and embodiment practices into her classes and teacher trainings.
